A mysterious blue planet appears with a blue moon on Halloween night

Sunday, November 1, 2020, 15:00 PM (GMT + 7)

The super-cold planet will line up with the Earth and the Sun on the same night with a blue moon and a meteor shower, and coincidentally it is tomorrow, October 31, Halloween night.

A blue moon is the second full moon night to happen in the same month, while the rarely visible blue planet is Uranus. The planet cannot be observed from Earth except for the rare time it gets closer to the point of alignment between Earth and the moon.

With the collinear point falling on October 31, Uranus will be at the closest distance to Earth of the year. Before that, since mid-September, the Earthlings were fortunate to see this planet dim. If viewed with the naked eye in the clear blue sky, less affected by pollution, you can only see it as a very faint star in the constellation Aries. But if you add a means of personal observation, this is a rare chance.

Through a close-up lens of NASA, Uranus appears with a beautiful blue color because it is an absolute ice sphere. From Earth, we will see it in blue or green.

Especially at the same time the Taurid meteor shower is seen in the sky, which started in mid-October and is getting thicker. The Taurid meteor shower is actually divided into 2. It is expected that on November 4, Vietnam time, the South Taurid meteor shower will peak, while the North Taurid peak a few days later.

Scientists note that during a blue-moon night, too bright light from the moon could obscure the other two events. But don’t worry, as the Taurus and Uranus meteor showers are still visible for days to come.

According to Earth Sky, go find Taurus constellation (Taurus). It is because of appearing near this constellation that the meteor shower is called Taurid. This meteor shower occurs when Earth enters the dusty tail of comet 2P / Encke.
