Anupriya Patel again made place in Modi cabinet, once fought with mother for power

PM Narendra Modi expanded his cabinet and gave place to many new faces. It also includes Apna Dal (S) leader and Mirzapur MP Anupriya Patel. Let us tell you that Anupriya was also a part of Modi cabinet in the year 2014. She was one of the youngest ministers and held the responsibility of the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare. Anupriya, who started her political career in the year 2012, has had a very rough road.

Let us tell you, Anupriya Patel had entered politics after the death of her father and in the year 2012 she contested and won from Rohaniya assembly seat in Varanasi on behalf of Apna Dal. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Patel once again entered the arena and won the Mirzapur seat. After winning the election, Anupriya Patel was given a place in the Modi cabinet as a Union Minister of State.

This is how the political war started: The tug-of-war in his family had intensified after Anupriya Patel left the Rohaniya seat in Varanasi. The by-elections were held here after Patel left the Rohaniya seat. Anupriya wanted her husband to contest from here, while her mother Krishna Patel herself decided to contest from Rohaniya seat. After this move, the relationship between mother and daughter got strained.

The mother-daughter relationship further soured when Apna Dal president Krishna Patel decided to expel his MP daughter Anupriya Patel from the party on charges of “indiscipline”. Then he had said, “We have decided to throw out Anupriya Patel from the party on the ground of indiscipline. He has not attended a single party meeting ever since the results of the Lok Sabha elections were out. This decision has been taken in a joint meeting of the party’s district, mandal and state level committees.”

On the other hand, Anupriya Patel claimed that her mother did not have any valid reason to expel her from the party. After leaving Apna Dal, Anupriya Patel formed the party in the year 2016 under the name of ‘Apna Dal (Sonelal)’. In the year 2018, she became the president of the party. On the other hand, his mother Krishna Patel approached the High Court for rights over the party. After many controversies, Krishna Patel formed a separate party named ‘Apna Dal (Communist)’.

While Krishna Patel’s party could not perform well on one hand, Anupriya Patel’s party decided to enter the fray in alliance with BJP in the 2017 assembly elections. Anupriya Patel contested 11 seats in the state in the assembly elections, in which she won 9 seats. Let us inform that before entering politics, Anupriya Patel has also been a professor of Amity University.
