The C-size sedan is built and equipped with a version similar to the high-rise brother Corolla Cross, priced from 650 to more than 800 million VND.
After the move to reduce the price of stockpiling, many Toyota dealers have received a deposit of the new Corolla Altis model. The car will be launched in the second quarter of this year or maybe earlier at the end of the first quarter. The expected price is about 650 million for the lowest version and more than 800 million for the highest version, 6 exterior color options.
Toyota Corolla Altis will change the name of the version, similar to Corolla Cross, including G, V and HV. In which, the HV version will use a hybrid engine. The old generation only had two versions E and G, priced at VND 733-763 million.
Regarding the engine, the G and V versions will use a 1.8 gasoline engine with a capacity of 138 horsepower. The 1.8HV version uses a hybrid engine, with a 1.8 gasoline engine with a capacity of 97 horsepower, maximum torque of 142 Nm combined with an electric motor with a capacity of 72 horsepower and torque of 163 Nm. The total capacity of this version is 122 horsepower. All versions use a continuously variable CVT automatic transmission, with 2 driving modes, especially the Hybrid version has an electric EV mode.
Toyota Corolla Altis 2022 uses Toyota’s all-new TNGA chassis platform. The dimensions length x width x height also change, respectively 4,630 x 1,780 x 1,455 mm, the wheelbase remains the same at 2,700 mm.
Just like on the Corolla Cross, the car’s central instrument cluster will have a 7-inch size, 4.2-inch driver’s clock. The car is equipped with automatic air conditioning, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, electronic handbrake.
Safety technology package Safety Sense 2 will be available on 1.8V and 1.8HV versions. Unlike in Thailand, the sunroof may not appear on all 3 versions.
Corolla Altis is facing a lot of difficulties when it is constantly being trailed by rivals like K3 or Mazda3 in the sales race. In addition to the weak equipment, the lack of youthful exterior, the high price also makes this model more difficult to reach customers.
In 2021, Corolla Altis sold only 1,954 vehicles, while leading the K3 segment with 10,505 units sold.
