Digvijay Singh had reached his official residence at midnight to make the collector a leader, challenged him to become CM.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh was sent by Rajiv Gandhi to the house of Indore Collector Ajit Jogi. Jogi’s entire life was changed by one phone ring.

Late Ajit Jogi, the first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, never dreamed of becoming a leader. But one phone changed his whole life. This incident is from the year 1985 when Ajit Jogi used to be the collector of Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Suddenly a call comes at the collector’s bungalow at midnight and the employee picks up the phone and tells that the collector sahib is asleep. From the other side, it is said in a loud voice to pick them up and get them to talk.

The employee runs away and the collector picks up Ajit Jogi. When Ajit Jogi picks up the phone, a voice comes from the other side, ‘You have two and a half hours. Whether to enter politics or remain a collector. Make a quick decision. Digvijay Singh will come to pick him up. Tell them your decision. This phone belonged to Rajiv Gandhi’s PA Vincent George. Till then Ajit Jogi was a collector, not a leader. But he also did not know that after two and a half hours he is going to become a leader from ‘Babu’.

According to ‘The Lallantop’, when Digvijay Singh reached the collector’s residence, he joined the Congress without thinking much. He was given many important posts in the party. Later Ajit Jogi was sent to Rajya Sabha. He had joined the Congress, but for Chhattisgarh, Rajiv Gandhi needed a bright boy. Jogi was selected and on the other hand Ajit Jogi met Arjun Singh here. Arjun Singh was a big leader then and Ajit Jogi, seeing the direction of the wind, made Singh his political guru.

First Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh: Ajit Jogi began to consider himself a leader of the backward and most backward castes. But along with this, he had also challenged Digvijay Singh, who brought him into politics. In 1993, when Digvijay Singh’s number came for CM, he raised his voice against it. After this, he also became the first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh from the Congress side. Later, after differences with the Congress, he formed a party named Janata Congress Chhattisgarh.
