Recently, the FBI and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) have reminded organizations and users to watch out for ransomware during the upcoming holiday season.
The government agency did not address specific threats but advised organizations to remain vigilant. For security, businesses and individual users should use strong passwords and not use the same password for multiple accounts, along with implementing multi-factor authentication where possible.
“Threats will not be on holiday, so we will continuously provide information to help industry and government partners stay safe during the holiday,” said CISA Director Jen Easterly.
“The holidays are always a favorite time for cybercriminals when a lot of people shop online,” noted FBI assistant director Bryan Vorndran.
Earlier in August 2021, the FBI and CISA also issued a similar warning. Both agencies encourage organizations to report all incidents to the FBI and CISA.
