Honda Passport 2022 – muscular SUV

AmericaThe “elder” of the CR-V refreshes the design, adds standard safety technology, with a new off-road version of TrailSport.

The biggest change in appearance is the grille design, with a larger size than the current version and the oval motif and more muscular veins, reminiscent of the Ridgeline pickup. The rear bumper has also been tweaked. Passport also has an additional HPD equipment package with differences in the grille, rim design and HPD logo.

The Passport TrailSport version also has an orange TrailSport logo. The distance between the centers of the two symmetrical wheels has increased by 10 mm for increased stability, and the 18-inch rims are fitted with 245/60R tires.

The TrailSport is equipped with a 4-wheel drive system with Honda’s i-VTM4 torque distribution system as well as an intelligent traction management system (ITM). The interior features orange stitching, the TrailSport logo and interior lighting.

All Passport 2022 versions continue to use 3.5-liter V6 engine, capacity of 280 horsepower and torque of 355 Nm. 9-speed automatic transmission. The i-VTM4 system is standard on the TrailSport and Elite trim levels, optional on the EX-L.

Honda said that the upgraded Passport has a ground clearance of 205 mm. The TrailSport is also the first in a new series of products that focus on off-road capabilities and could be further upgraded with larger tires and tweaked suspension in the future.

Interior comfort with standard 8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Safety equipment with the Honda Sensing package, which includes a range of driver assistance features, is also standard. The feature reminds the driver to check the rear seats when leaving the car, as well as reminding the seat belts for the rear seats.

After the Passport, it seems likely that the Ridgeline pickup will also get a TrailSport version, then possibly to the Pilot and CR-V. Honda Passport will compete with Ford Explorer Timberline version and Hyundai Santa Fe XRT version.

The Honda Passport was launched in the US at the end of 2018 and sold from the beginning of 2019. The 5-seater SUV was designed by Honda North America’s research and development team and assembled at its factory in Lincoln, Alabama. The Japanese automaker positions Passport between Honda Pilot and CR-V, targeting customers who like to experience off-road as well as urban mobility. Currently, the company has not announced the price of the 2022 version. The 2020 car has a retail price of 32,000 USD.
