Recently, the Ministry of Information and Communications (TT&TT) has issued a circular on the National Technical Regulation on the quality of Internet access services on the 5G terrestrial mobile telecommunications network (QCVN 126: 2021/BTTTT). This Circular takes effect from July 1, 2022 with many notable contents, especially in terms of download speed (download), upload (upload) and delay time (ping). ..

Vietnam is one of the first countries in the world to test commercial 5G networks soon.

As for download parameters, the Ministry of Information and Communications has added regulations that at least 95% of the test samples must have a download speed of ≥ 30Mbps.

For download and upload, will simulate downloading/uploading data files from/to the server for testing, with the minimum number of data file samples of 1,500. The time interval to take a measurement sample is from 10 – 30 seconds.

The Ministry of Information and Communications has licensed 5G network testing for Viettel, VNPT and MobiFone in a number of provinces and cities. Enterprises are licensed to test for internal subscribers to evaluate technical features and ability to deploy telecommunications infrastructure using new technologies.

On May 10, 2019, Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) made the first connection on a 5G mobile network in Vietnam. At the event, Viettel’s 5G mobile network connection speed with terminals reached 1.5 – 1.7Gbps. Recently, in September 2021, they announced a leap forward with speeds of more than 4.7Gbps in the lab.

By March 2020, MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation successfully tested 5G networks in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Hai Phong. The testing process is carried out by MobiFone with services that require super speed such as 3D calls, online games, interactive virtual reality applications (AR, VR),… According to MobiFone’s announcement, the speed The data download rate is nearly 2Gbps.

Next, in April 2020, VNPT announced officially successfully testing VinaPhone 5G network in 2 cities licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The test results of VinaPhone 5G network reached more than 2.2Gbps, which is 10 times faster than 4G network.
