Hyundai is the best-selling Asian car company in Western Europe in the first quarter, with more than 6,000 cars higher than rival Toyota.
With Volkswagen in the popular car segment, the trio of Mercedes, BMW, Audi, luxury cars, and German cars almost dominate the domestic market. In the first quarter of 2021, Hyundai was the best-selling Asian brand here. However, Japanese cars with more volume, total sales still marginally better than Korean cars.

Among the top 10 brands selling the most cars in Germany in the first quarter of 2021, Hyundai is the only Asian automaker on the list. Meanwhile, the number one Japanese company, Toyota ranked 12th, less than rival Hyundai about 6,000 cars.
Hyundai in Germany mainly sells hatchback models, from size A to size D such as i10, i20, i30, Ioniq, Bayon, Tucson, Santa Fe. The rare sedan is the Ioniq with either hybrid or all-electric options, alongside a fastback version of the i30 series. Hybrid engines also appear in many of its product portfolio.
Toyota in western Europe is more diversified than Hyundai product lines with Aygo (rival i10), Yaris, Yaris Cross, Corolla, CH-R, Camry, GR 86, Supra, Prius, Mirai, RAV4, Land Cruiser, Hilux. Many of these products are powered by hybrid engines, fuel cells, or run electricity.
Behind Toyota in the list of Asian brands selling the most is another Korean automaker, Kia, a subsidiary of Hyundai. In Germany, Kia mainly sells hatchback and wagon models such as Picanto (Morning), Rio, Stonic, Soul, Ceed, Proceed, Xceed, Niro, Sportage, Sorento, and mostly hybrid or pure electric engines. The Kia Stinger is a pure sedan in its lineup.
After Kia, the Asian firms ranked after Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Subaru, and Honda respectively. Lexus luxury brand alone ranked 32nd with 685 units sold in the first 3 months of 2021.
