Israeli electric car company begins operations in the US

REE Automotive will be headquartered in Austin, aiming to attract investment in North America and is expected to produce electric vehicles in 2023.

REE has developed a skateboard-style flat chassis design that promises to be suitable for a variety of electric vehicles. The company also decided to locate its headquarters outside of Israel to capture the growing demand in the US market.

REE is an electric drive technology and solutions company with headquarters in Tel Aviv, Israel, with branches in the UK, Germany and soon a new headquarters in the US.

The Austin facility will be where REE assembles and tests vehicles with “REE technology”, as well as super-modular concepts. The Austin plant – which could be completed in the second half of 2022 – is expected to create 150 jobs over the next few years and will have an annual output of 40,000 electric vehicle modular platforms.
