‘Jethalal’ wears the same designer’s clothes for 13 years, know how many hours are ready


Jethalal aka Dilip Joshi: Jethalal aka Dilip Joshi has been a part of the big and small screen for the last several years. Although all the characters are important in television’s famous serial ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, but Jethalal is different. Jethalal, who is seen in his special dress on any festival, mainly wears a shirt or kurta. According to media reports, from the beginning of the show, only one person is designing Jethalal i.e. Dilip Joshi’s clothes.

Who makes Jethalal’s clothes: Jeetu Bhai Lakhani of Mumbai has been designing clothes for the role of Jethalal since 2008. On normal days, where he makes ordinary clothes for Dileep Joshi, his shirt design is also special for any special occasion. In an interview, Jeetu Bhai Lakhani told that it takes 2 hours to make any new shirt while it takes about 3 hours to design. He further says that the sales of these shirts are so high that people from far and wide demand to make Jethalal style shirts.

Acting started from the age of 12: Actor Dilip Joshi, who entertained audiences with his character Jethalal for the last nearly 13 years, started participating in acting competition right from the age of 12. Apart from working in Gujarati drama and many films, Dilip has also appeared in Salman Khan’s film Maine Pyaar Kiya in the role of servant Ramu and in Bhoomi Prasad in Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. However, he says that after doing Tarak Mehta… people’s attitude towards him changed.
