The new generation crossover model changes design, focuses on the driver, three powertrain options, sold from 2022.
Kia introduced the new generation Niro at the Seoul Mobility Show 2021. The crossover comes with hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric options. Compared to the old version, Niro 2022 is completely changed. The appearance is inspired by the 2019 HabaNiro concept. The distinctive tiger-nose style grille, but refined into a “tiger face”, with a thin, full-width upper grille and large lower grille forming the graphic. bone shape.
The two-tone front bumper leads to the front fenders and side skirts. The design highlight of the new generation Niro lies in the wide C-pillar, with contrasting colors leading into the rear wheel arches and integrated vertical boomerang-shaped taillights. Kia explains, this design enhances airflow, improving aerodynamics.
The interior features an asymmetrical instrument panel that wraps around the driver and passenger seats, incorporating Kia’s curved display panel and a transmission selector. Slim, lightweight front seats improve comfort and spaciousness, and there are coat hangers behind the headrests. The vehicle uses eco-friendly materials, such as the headboard made from recycled wallpaper, the seats using Tencel fiber from eucalyptus leaves and the door paint that is free of benzene, toluene and xylene isomers.
Hybrid versions of Niro 2022 come with Greenzone driving mode, which allows automatically switching to EV when driving in green areas such as residential areas, schools or hospitals based on map data and journey history. This technology also records the driver’s favorite places such as home, registered office on the map.
Kia has not revealed detailed specifications of the new-generation Niro, but says it is available with hybrid-electric (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and pure electric powertrains. Detailed specifications and prices will be announced near the time of sale in 2022.
