Ligue 1: Lorient Yoane Wissa hospitalized following an assault at his home

The player was admitted to hospital with burns to his eyes after being assaulted at his home late Thursday night from Thursday to Friday. He was due to be operated on this Friday.

Lorient striker Yoane Wissa was the victim of an assault at his home overnight from Thursday to Friday, revealed The Telegram . The player was hospitalized “but his state of health was not considered problematic Friday morning,” said L’Equipe.

FC Lorient, however, clarified that the Congolese international, who arrived in Brittany in 2018, was to undergo surgery on Friday. “FC Lorient learned this morning that Yoane Wissa had been the victim of an assault at his home during the night before being hospitalized urgently. Yoane is due for surgery today. The Club, in shock, want to show their support for Yoane and his family and wish their player a speedy recovery. FC Lorient is counting on justice to convict the perpetrator of this attack, ”the club said in a statement.

The team reveals on its site the first elements of the investigation. A woman reportedly came to the player’s home Thursday afternoon asking for an autograph for her son. The 24-year-old forward has reportedly accepted the request. But around midnight, this same woman would have returned to Yoane Wissa, breaking into the house this time without authorization. The latter then allegedly threw a liquid in the face of the Hake, causing him burns.
