A dream for collectors. Australian auction, which ends Sunday, September 26, features 13 vehicles from the 2015 dystopian blockbuster Mad Max Fury Road. The War Rig, a huge tanker truck piloted by the character played by Charlize Thero, the Nux Car or the Razor Cola, the reinvented Ford Falcon XB coupe GT that faced Max Rockatansky … The vehicles for sale are part of the savage armada that burst onto the screen in the award-winning fourth installment of George Miller’s franchise.
The sale has attracted worldwide interest, including casinos in Las Vegas and the Burning Man festival in the United States, said Geoff McKew, the car expert from Lloyds Auctions. Although he does not intend to leave them “go at a low price”, he considers it difficult to put a price on the fleet. The owners will only sell the 13 vehicles together, in order to preserve part of the history of cinema.
The success of the 4th installment reinforced the cult status of the Australian dystopian action series, whose iconic protagonist was first played by Mel Gibson in 1979. The vehicles of the film “shouldn’t stay in a warehouse, they should be there and get the respect they deserve”, said Geoff McKew. None of the cars will however be allowed to circulate in the street.
