Maxus T60 price 24,500 USD – Chinese pickup competitive Ford Ranger


MalaysiaNew version of pickup model for sale in Southeast Asia with only one version 4WD Automatic.

When it was introduced in June 2019, Weststar, the Maxus distributor in Malaysia, said there would be two versions of the T60, including the manual and automatic. But now, on its website there is only a T60 version with two-wheel drive and automatic transmission.

The pickup uses a 2.8-liter VGT, 4-cylinder, turbodiesel engine, 150 hp at 3,400 rpm and 360 Nm of torque at 1,600-2,800 rpm. 6-speed automatic transmission.

The T60 also uses BorgWarner electronically controlled two-wheel drive system, which can switch the 2H-4H-4L mounting modes without stopping. Three driving modes are Normal, Eco and Power. Also is the Eaton differential lock. The 17-inch rim of the old version is replaced by 19-inch aluminum alloy rims with Continental tires of size 255/55.

The package remains the same, with the exterior featuring automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, front / rear fog lights, aluminum roof rack, step-up and down, power folding rearview mirror and rear deck lining. Storage capacity is 1,188 liters.

Black leather interior, height-adjustable leather steering wheel, integrated cruise control and audio control system, push button start, automatic air conditioning. The 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The T60 has a reversing camera, a rain-wiper sensor, and a car glass that can block UV rays. Electric driver’s seat and 6-way adjustable, 4-way adjustable driver’s seat.

Maxus T60 has 5-star ANCAP certification, with 4 airbags (front and side), ABS, EBD, traction control, brake assist, hill start assist and downhill assist. The vehicle also features RMI anti-roll technology that detects the risk of overturning and activates the brakes to resist and return control and balance to the vehicle.

Other safety equipment includes tire pressure monitoring, two Isofix child seat hooks, reverse sensor, and blind spot monitoring support. Maxus also emphasized the disc brakes with ventilation both front and rear.

In Malaysia, the T60 has 6 paint color options. The pickup truck competes with competitors in the same segment, including the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux and Mitsubishi L200.

Maxus is a subsidiary of the Chinese group SAIC. In mid-2019, SAIC and Tan Chong Group (Malaysia) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in factory construction, import, distribution and sale of vehicles in Vietnam. The subsidiary brands owned by SAIC include Maxus, MG, Roewe. It is not yet clear which SAIC’s sub-brands can be authorized to distribute and trade by Tan Chong.
