Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav won the first election in the year 1967. After this he became a Union Minister and with him younger brother Shivpal Singh Yadav also entered politics. On the other hand, Abhay Ram Yadav, three years younger than Mulayam, kept his distance from politics. Abhay Ram Yadav still does farming in the village and spends time with his family. He said that he would never even enter politics.

In an interview with The Lallantop, Abhay Ram was also asked about his favorite prime minister. Abhay Ram Yadav had said, ‘We are not made for politics. Only Lal Bahadur Shastri became the honest Prime Minister of the country. Even after his death, he was in debt. The wife had paid off his car loan. Honest has been the Prime Minister till now. He was too small in stature. But the work was done very well.

On the question of Indira Gandhi, Abhay Ram says, ‘She was a very crooked woman. In 1975-76 all the leaders were imprisoned. All this was done by Indira Gandhi only. Indira had lost the election to Raj Narayan. Nothing like this could have happened in the village during the Emergency, but Netaji spent 16 months in jail. We used to live in our own house and many people were afraid to even go to the market with Indira Gandhi.

When Mulayam Singh Yadav became CM for the first time: Abhay Ram says, ‘Mulayam Singh Yadav became the Chief Minister in 1989. We used to do agriculture then and still do farming. CM was made from our family and what else? Narendra Modi presents even the falsehood very clearly. Mulayam’s old age has come, so now he can only wish him good luck, no matter who is in front. He had also wished Narendra Modi in the same way. Let us tell you, Mulayam Singh Yadav won the first election from Jaswant Nagar seat. After this, he became the Defense Minister of the country in 1996.
