AmericaThe large cruiser model adds 2 versions B and Transcontinental, different equipment, priced at 21,500-25,000 USD.
BMW Motorrad adds more options to the R18 line, with two versions R18 B and R18 Transcontinental. Previously, the large cruiser model “revived” in April 2020, with the standard version and the First Edition. The R18 Transcontinental is more about long distances and the R18 B is more focused on driving pleasure. Both share the same engine and chassis.
The Transcontinental version, dubbed the “Grand American Tourer”, is ideal for long-distance travel, competing with the Honda Gold Wing Tour. The car is equipped with a crank set and a large windshield. The model also features body-colored windscreens, auxiliary lights, heated panels and a seat with a focus on comfort. The screen on the instrument cluster is 10.25 inches, the Marshall sound system with 4 speakers and 2 subwoofers.
R18 B looks similar, but sportier style. The difference with the R18 Transcontinental lies in the shorter windshield, non-heated saddle and a few black accents.
Customers who like the difference can order the First Edition, which is available for both. Special feature is the classic black paint, contrasted with chrome accents and double white stripe paint, special saddle and First Edition logo.
Both versions are equipped with a two-cylinder Boxer engine, capacity of 1,802 cc, air-cooled, capacity of 90 horsepower, maximum torque of 150 Nm. The 6-speed gearbox combines the power of the car to the rear wheel. The car has 3 running modes: Rain, Roll, Rock. Top speed 178 km/h.
As planned, BMW R18 B and R18 Transcontinental will be sold in the US from August, priced from 21,500 and 25,000 USD respectively. While rival Honda Gold Wing Tour costs 28,300-32,600 USD.
In early 2021, the German motorcycle brand launched the R18 model in Vietnam for VND 929 million and the First Edition for VND 1,039 billion, imported from Germany.
