Quentin Tarantino publishes his first novel, an adaptation of his film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”

Published by Fayard editions, his first book will be released in mid-August in France. The novel, like the film, will follow the adventures of a western actor and his understudy during the hippie movement.

The first novel by American director Quentin Tarantino, Once upon a time in hollywood, a free adaptation of his eponymous film released in 2019 and winning two Oscar, will be released in France on August 18, Fayard editions announced on Tuesday.

The director of pulp Fiction, having won the Palme d’Or at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival and the Oscar for Best Screenplay the following year, will recount the adventures of Western actor Rick Dalton and his sidekick Cliff Booth in Los Angeles in 1969, where the hippie movement is at its peak, Fayard said in a statement.

The book is “freely” inspired by his movie Once upon a time in hollywood, released in 2019. With nearly $ 400 million worldwide, this is the director’s second-biggest success, behind Django Unchained (2012).
