Prashant Kishor had said during an interview that Rahul Gandhi feels that people themselves will throw Narendra Modi out of power. But that is not going to happen.
Strategist Prashant Kishor had prepared the campaign strategy for the Congress during the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Despite all the efforts, the Congress did not get any benefit and the party was defeated. When Prashant Kishor was asked about this, he had said that even after refusing, the Congress had formed an alliance with the Samajwadi Party and this also became the reason for its defeat. During his recent visit to Goa, Prashant Kishor had also targeted Rahul Gandhi and Congress.
Prashant Kishor had commented, ‘One should not fall under the pretense that people are getting angry. They will throw Modi out of power. You have to fight BJP for many decades. The problem with Rahul Gandhi is that he thinks it is just a matter of time and people themselves will throw Narendra Modi out of power. After this the Congress took a jibe at this remark and said, ‘A consultant has no ideology’. In another interview, while talking to senior journalist Barkha Dutt, Prashant Kishor had said, “Rahul Gandhi will have to work really hard because Congress is losing ground since 1985.”
First meeting with Rahul: In the interview of ‘The Lallantop’, when Prashant Kishor was asked about his first meeting with Rahul Gandhi, he had said, ‘I had met Rahul ji for the first time in 2015 at the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Many other leaders were also involved there. There was no long talk here. He had asked me for some advice regarding Uttar Pradesh and also asked to work together. But I wanted to discuss with my colleagues before doing anything like this. I had done that too and took a decision only after that.
Wanted to be Priyanka’s face: Counting the mistakes made in the UP elections, Prashant Kishor had said, ‘We had put many issues in front of the Congress regarding Uttar Pradesh. Earlier Congress leaders had objection to this. We had said that Priyanka Gandhi should be made the face of Congress in Uttar Pradesh. This could not happen. Apart from this, the second objection was about Sonia Gandhi’s road show. Later a road show took place and it was also started from Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of PM Modi.
