After the UX 300e, Lexus is about to launch its second electric vehicle called the RZ, sharing the platform with the Toyota bZ4X.
The Lexus RZ is expected to be on the market in 2023. Lexus has filed a patent application to use the RZ450e and RZ450e F-Sport names, respectively, for the regular version and the sporty version.
RZ shares the chassis platform as well as the battery system of the Toyota bZ4X, the twin model of Subaru Solterra (the two companies jointly developed). However, Lexus will adjust the power of the two electric motors to reach a higher level than the bZ4X (215 hp).
Based on the initial leaked images, the RZ still follows the L-Finesse design language with angular, sporty blocks like the RX petrol model. The rear of the car resembles the design of the electric concept LF-Z launched in March 2021.
Lexus is still quite slow in the electric car game with competitors in terms of new product launches. Lexus RZ will be the company’s second pure electric product, while Mercedes has three, including EQS, EQE, EQB, BMW has two, including i4, iX.
