The 10 most stolen cars in Malaysia


In 2020, the average daily number of stolen vehicles is 20, down from the 2019 average of 32.

Malaysia launched the campaign to raise public awareness about vehicle theft in 2021. The Vehicle Theft Reduction Council (VTREC) shares a list of the 10 most stolen cars in 2020. Here are Table 10 most stolen car models in 2020 and 2019.

Proton Wira topped the list once again with 353 units, although this is less than in previous years. At second place is Iswara, another model from Proton with 273 units. Toyota’s Hilux pickup was in third place with 209 units, becoming the most stolen foreign car.

According to the PaultanOther familiar names on the list include Perodua Kancil 4th with 144 units, followed by Myvi with 131 units, Proton Saga 110 units and Waja 104 units.

Honda’s two models, Civic and City, ranked 8th and 9th, respectively, with 85 stolen units and 75 units. Compared to 2019, City ranked 8th and Civic ranked 9th. Finally, Toyota’s Vellfire ranked at the bottom of the list with 60 most stolen units in 2020.

The report also pointed out that the average daily number of stolen vehicles in 2020 is 20 units, 37% less than the average of 32 cars in 2019. The reason is due to the effects of prolonged travel control by Covid-19. In 2020, 7,400 vehicles were stolen, while in 2019 the number reached 11,675 units.
