Vasundhara Raje shared an anecdote related to her marriage in an interview. He had told that due to the pressure of Bhai Madhav Rao, he had agreed to the marriage.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is the aunt of BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia. He is counted among the impeccable leaders. Vasundhara was married to Maharaj Hemant Singh of Dholpur in the year 1972. But this marriage did not last long and she separated from Maharaja Hemant only after about a year.
Talking about her marriage in an interview, Vasundhara had said, ‘Even after being born in a royal family, my life seemed like a bird in a cage of gold. I asked my mother to send me to a boarding school. I always wanted to go out of Gwalior and go somewhere far away. I was married very early. When I did my BA, I was a married woman.
The show’s host Vasundhara asks Raje, ‘You used to take every decision of life on your own. Studied outside Gwalior, then why did you get married so early?’ Vasundhara Raje says in response, ‘You see me as an opponent. But my protest was as much as was allowed in the family. I had arranged marriage. That too when the parents and brother Madhav Rao gave pressure, they had to get married unwillingly.
She had further said, ‘I wanted a lifestyle where girls could talk openly. To have fun with friends. Where does everyone get such luck! Usually only friends used to come to our house.
Let us tell you, Vasundhara Raje’s marriage did not last even a year. Hemant and Vasundhara Raje had decided to separate from each other in the year 1973. After the divorce, Vasundhara gave birth to a son Dushyant Singh in Gwalior. He also fought a long legal battle to get his son his due. In the year 2007, Dushyant got many properties including the palace of Dholpur.
Dushyant Singh entered politics just like mother Vasundhara Raje. In the year 2019, he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Jhalawar-Baran in Rajasthan on a BJP ticket. He had a one-sided victory in this election. Then in his affidavit, Dushyant had told that he has total assets of 37 crores.
