Nitin Gadkari had said in an interview with Prabhu Chawla, ‘I have done what I have said. One thing is that sometimes it will take time to say things, but never give false assurances.’
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari was recently asked about the toll charges on the National Highway in a program, he said that no facility is available for free. Wherever you take advantage of any facility, then you have to pay a fee, the same thing happens with the road, if you get good highways, then the fee will have to be paid.
Senior journalist Prabhu Chawla had asked Nitin Gadkari, ‘You are famous for roads. If you were in Maharashtra, you don’t know what it was called. Like Modi ji, your numbers are a big deal that there will be a big impact. You had said that I will build 60 km of road daily, but today the average of 20 km is coming, why so?’
Nitin Gadkari says in response to this, ‘I have never said 60 kilometers. Earlier I said 40 kms. Right now the average is 28 kms. I am sure that in the coming time we will go up to 40 kms. This year even after being Kovid, we are at 28 kms. Lord, you should know one thing about me that I have done what I have said. One thing is that sometimes it will take time to say things, but never give false assurances.’
Prabhu Chawla says, ‘You yourself set the target. We didn’t keep any.’ Gadkari says, ‘I have not set a new target of 40 km. We have no shortage of money. In the last tenure, I did works worth Rs 17 lakh crore. Till date no contractor can say that he has not received the money. Many projects were closed before we arrived. Because the clearance of many departments was not available at all. Earlier it used to take 4 hours to go from Delhi to Meerut, but now you will go in 45 minutes, this is my guarantee.
Purpose to stop petrol-diesel: Recently, at the India Today Conclave 2021, Nitin Gadkari was asked about the rising price of petrol and diesel, he said, ‘Our aim is to reduce the import of petrol and diesel. We will use biofuel, ethanol, methanol, electric vehicles, biodiesel, CNG and if there is a compulsion then LNG and LPG. But we will not allow petrol and diesel to run. There is so much pollution due to this, but there is no such benefit. Our aim should be to find another option.
