Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was asked the reason for not celebrating Eid during an interview. In response, he said something like this.
With the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh approaching, the political turmoil has intensified. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is continuously campaigning for BJP. Taking a jibe at the opposition parties, Yogi had said, “Don’t be misled by the opposition who has dual character and changes color like a chameleon. These people silently take the vaccine and say that we did not take the vaccine. There is an appeal to the public that all eligible people must take the vaccine, do not fall prey to anyone. Meanwhile, an old interview of Yogi Adityanath is going viral.
In this, the question was asked about Yogi not celebrating Eid. In senior journalist Rajat Sharma’s program ‘Aap Ki Adalat’, Yogi was asked the question, ‘You celebrated Holi and you also celebrated Diwali. But when you were asked whether you would celebrate Eid too, you refused. Shall we assume that you are the leader of Hindus?’ In response to this, he had said, ‘Look, I am the Chief Minister of the people of 22 crore state, but I also have personal faith. My personal belief is that I cannot do the hypocrisy that I do Hanuman Chalisa at home and go out and perform another demonstration with a cap.
Yogi Adityanath further says, ‘My nature is not like this at all. I am following what I believe. I also feel proud to be a Hindu. I cannot mislead the public at all like other people. Being Hindu in itself is a guarantee of secularism. One cannot prove himself secular only by doing such things. As far as wishing Eid is concerned, I myself have congratulated it. If Akhilesh Yadav ji had been reading the newspaper, he would have known whether I have congratulated Eid or not.
Is the Muslim community scared of your name? In response to this, Yogi Adityanath had said, ‘Criminals should absolutely be afraid of my name. If a person is fine, he will not be afraid of my name at all. If someone is wrong, he should be absolutely afraid of my name. This happens only with criminals. If you are talking about the feeling of fear in a particular community, then you should ask them.
