Like the ball lost by Pogba in midfield, the Red Devils are a step below in the engagement!

Ronaldo and Fernandes give up their places! (72nd)

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preserves his star by bringing it out for the benefit of Jesse Lingard. Decisive passer, Fernandes is also replaced by Matic.

Manchester in distress (70th)

While United no longer exists, the Swiss are pushing for the advantage. In front of an audience that is now on fire, Bern is blowing a wind of panic in the ranks of Mancun. Symbol of Swiss domination, Wagner’s men attempted 16 strikes against only 2 for United.

GOUUUUT from Ngamaleu! (66th)

Bern’s efforts have paid off! After a few good minutes of conservations, the Swiss found the gap on the right side and Elia crosses strong in front of the goal. The center is hijacked and returns to an opportunist Ngamaleu who deceives De Gea at close range!

Cardboard for Varane (65th)

The Red Devils defender receives a warning for saving time after a Swiss foul.

Elia does too much (62nd)

The Young Boys center forward played Fred on the side but overdid it and ended up losing control of the ball. A new opportunity wasted by Bern.

Bern pushes (60th)

In numerical superiority, the Swiss have logically gained the ascendancy over their opponent. However, Bern still lacks precision in the final pass to really worry United.

Elia’s strike flies away! (57th)

Bern’s center forward inherited the ball after a corner kick and tried the half-volley but it was completely missed.

Ronaldo collapses in the box! (54th)

After an opening by Fernandes, Ronaldo took advantage of an error in reading the defense to go to goal. Camara returns to contact and the Portuguese collapses in the box! Mr. Letexier does not flinch and does not whistle anything which provokes the anger of number 7!

Martins Pereira is warned

The Bern midfielder gets a yellow card after a foul on Fernandes.

New Garcia center! (50th)

The left side has a good game and is illustrated with a new center which came out of the head by Varane.

First intervention of Varane (47th)

The Swiss are already on the attack with Garcia whose center is pushed back by Varane!

Here we go again !

The players are back on the pitch!

It’s the break ! Reduced to 10, United is ahead!

We saw a lively first half between Manchester United and Young Boys Bern. The Red Devils took the advantage from the quarter of an hour of play through the inevitable Ronaldo perfectly served by Fernandes. Yet domineering, the Mancuniens match changed with the logical expulsion of Wan-Bissaka just before half-time. The Swiss then took the lead and came very close to coming back.

Yellow card for Fassnacht

United is suffering! (45th)

The Red Devils blame it since the exclusion of Wan-Bissaka! The Swiss settle in the opposing camp and multiply the centers but without finding a taker for the moment!

Sierro’s strike! (43rd)

Not attacked at 30 meters, the midfielder takes his chance but his shot is too soft to worry De Gea who easily catches the ball!

Sancho gives way

After the exclusion of Wan-Bissaka, Jadon Sancho pays the cost of coaching Solskjaer and gives way to Diogo Dalot. United switched to 4-4-1 with Ronaldo alone in front.

On a superb cross from Garcia, Fassnacht takes the ball for a volley and sees his shot grazing the right post of De Gea. In the wake of the exclusion, the Swiss almost came back to the score!

Very nasty fault on the part of Wan-Bissaka. The Manchester side arrives late and violently crushes Martins’ ankle! Logical red card for the 23-year-old Englishman. Manchester will finish at 10!

The center of Wan-Bissaka! (31st)

After a superb phase of possession, Wan-Bissaka is found by Fernandes on the edge of the surface. The side works his ball but the center is read well by the Swiss goalkeeper who captures the leather just in front of Ronaldo!

Sancho taken over by Garcia (29th)

Alerted on the right side, Sancho crashes but misses his hook and is caught by Garcia!

Free kick badly played by United (28th)

On an off-center set-piece, Bruno Fernandes tries to surprise the defense with a short pass but it is well read and cleared by the Swiss!

After a good action, Fassnacht tried his luck from outside the area and it was perfectly repelled by De Gea! In the continuity of this action, United goes against with Fernandes who serves Ronaldo at the entrance to the surface. The latter tries his luck but it is pushed back for a corner by Von Ballmoos.

Bern is building up the pressure! (23rd)

After a corner, the locals try to put pressure on the Mancunian cage with a succession of centers, but these are too imprecise to find the head of a Bernese player.

Luke Shaw’s Foray! (20th)

Perfectly served by Fernandes, Luke Shaw is alone on the left side but his center is sent back by the Swiss defense.

Cruel to Bern

The Swiss will quickly have to raise their heads after this opening scoring. However, they made a good start and showed themselves capable of worrying the Mancunian defense.

It took less than a quarter of an hour for Ronaldo to find the loophole in the Champions League! Perfectly served by an exterior of the incredible foot of Bruno Fernandes, the Manchester number 7 is completely alone in the area and only has to adjust the Bern goalkeeper!

First hot situation for United! (11th)

On a good deep ball, Bruno Fernandes slightly lacked control but tried to alert Sancho in which saw the ball being taken away from him by the Bernese defense.

The first strike of the match! (2nd)

Elia wins her duel with Fred in the middle and crashes before trying her luck. However his shot is too crushed and goes out of goal!

Pogba in the left lane

In line with his last games with United, Pogba is placed in the left lane. Van De Beek will play in midfield alongside Fred.

The kick is given !

A French referee for the match

Mr. Letexier will officiate for this Champions League poster.

The C1 anthem rings out in the Stadium!

The players are making their entrance!

Mancuniens and Bernese make their entrance in front of a wild Swiss audience! 30,000 people were seated in the bays of the Young Boys Stadium.

Another record for Ronaldo

As soon as the kick-off is given, Cristiano Ronaldo will add a new record to his incredible list of achievements. Established by Solskjaer, the Portuguese will equal the record for the number of appearances in the Champions League held so far by Iker Casillas with 181 matches in C1.

The Young Boys XI

For this meeting, David Wagner leaves the former Rennes player Jordan Siebatcheu on the bench and relies on almost the same XI as the one who won 4-0 against Zurich last weekend. Only Camara and Sierro did not start last weekend.

Manchester United XI

For this opening of the Champions League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has obviously aligned his star Cristiano Ronaldo. At his side we will find Jadon Sancho and the playing master Bruno Fernandes. The Manchester United coach has nevertheless reserved two small surprises for us with the tenure of Van De Beek and Lindelof, preferred to Varane and Greenwood. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer obviously lines up.

A complicated draw for Bern

As in 2019, the Swiss champion inherited a complicated draw. Placed in the pool of Manchester United, Atalanta and Villarreal, qualifying hopes are slim for Wagner’s men. Pulsed in their start to the championship, Jordan Sibatcheu’s teammates will try to put on a good figure in Europe.

Manchester to reconnect with the summits

This summer, the Red Devils gave themselves the means to dream by bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford. The arrivals of Sancho and Varane have also come to feed this ambition to crown in the Champions League. Especially since the Mancunian supporters must find the time long. The Red Devils have not seen the last four of the Champions League since 2011.

Good evening everyone!

Welcome to this live commentary for the opening poster of the 2021-22 Champions League. For this match, Ronaldo’s Manchester United will travel to the field of the Young Boys of Bern, the little thumb of this group F.
